Hole #1 –
Par 3 – 256′ – 15′ downhill. Tee off between two big trees with a low ceiling, your drive will need to carry over the roads (OB). Too much fade at the end of the drive will likely allow the prevailing winds to push your disc to the far left side of the large green.
Hole #2 –
Par 4 – 438′ – Level. Wide open tee shot with fairway slightly sloping from right to left. Open to the left and bordered by trees on the right side of the fairway. 2 big trees create a gap for your approach to the basket.
Hole #3 –
Par 3 – 275′ – 33′ uphill. Great opportunity for a birdie here, and an ace run for players with a big drive. Don’t overthrow and have to putt downhill or end up too far to the right; the tree will block paths to the basket from the right and back sides.
Hole #4 – Hangtime!
Par 4 – 585′ – 42′ downhill. Huge drive from the hill to the wide open fairway. Check for a tailwind and select your driver carefully. Approach shots reward accuracy with an opportunity for a birdie putt. Remember that if you throw past the basket all roads are OB.
Hole #5 –
Par 5 – 750′ – 20′ uphill. Run up and let it rip. Control vs. distance will matter here because the road (OB) parallels the fairway for the entire hole. The basket position is tucked in the corner about 20′ from the road on the right and the road behind.
Hole #6 – Kilroy was here…
Par 3 – 206′ – 2′ downhill. Open fairway. The best ace run on the course. Trees surrounding the basket which is sitting low, with the chains just peeking over the lip of the hill. Don’t end up in the thick trees to the right of the basket.
Hole #7 –
Par 4 – 186′ – 1′ downhill. Dogleg to the right. Two paths to the basket: a narrow & straight shot between the tree in the fairway and the trees bordering the right side of the fairway before the dogleg, or a finesse shot from left to right through the wide side of the fairway. The hillside slopes away behind the basket into the trees so don’t overthrow the forehand approach.
Hole #8 – Squirrel City
Par 3 – 155′ – Level. Split fairway gives you the choice to go to the left or the right of the tree. Basket sits at the base of a huge split tree with a “high-rise of squirrel condominiums” going up the trunk. If you go past the basket you will have to putt back uphill between the trees.
Hole #9 – Eisenhower Tunnel
Par 3 – 170′ – 17′ uphill. Very tight alley between trees on both sides. Ground slopes away steeply to the right of the fairway. The layup shot is to park it just past the roots of the tree in the fairway and have a straight uphill approach. The other option is to throw a hard, straight drive just under the the tree limbs and get a fade at the end to try for a birdie look.
Hole #10 –
Par 3 – 242′ – 31′ downhill. Your first view of the three mountain ranges to the west of the ranch. Tee shot features a large tree on the left and right sides of the fairway. Another aceable hole with an accurate and straight drive. A huge hyzer or tomahawk are also possibilities. Disc speed will be important as will playing the wind. The basket sits in a semi-circle of pine trees punishing errant tee shots that go too long.
Hole #11 – Finkle-Einhorn
Par 3 – 245′ – 28′ uphill. Intimidating tee shot between two closely spaced trees 10′ in front of the tee pad. A forehand shot is also possible around the right tree. Fairway opens up on the long route to the right with trees protecting the left of the fairway and two small pines threatening the hard & straight approach. Basket sits to the right of the big tree on a steep slope.
Hole #12 –
Par 4 – 480′ – 22′ downhill. Big drive. Fairway sloping steeply from left to right with only a few small trees to account for. Plan your approach: go straight and putt from pin-high, or land the drive in the flat & level clearing on the right side and approach & putt from below, or throw up and to the left and let the elevation give you a drop-shot approach. The basket is protected behind the 2 big trees at the end of the fairway.
Hole #13 – Photo-Op
Par 3 – 212′ – 5′ downhill. A big tree will knock down tee shots that go too far to the right. An open landing area in front of and to the left of the basket is a perfect spot for a layup. Trees surround and protect the basket from the right side. Take a moment to appreciate the view of the Collegiate Peaks and the Sangre de Christo ranges to the southwest.
Hole #14 – Narrow Minded
Par 4 – 410′ – 17′ uphill. A huge straight drive is key to winning this hole. The fairway is very wide for the first third and gets tighter and tighter as the drive carries down the fairway. The last section of fairway doglegs to the left and tightens up even more. Look for a marker at the peak of the fairway with a pink streamer. The basket is back and to the left about 30 feet sitting in a grotto of trees.
Hole #15 – Do NOT go in there!
Par 3 – 170′ – 2′ downhill. Keep it straight or you will pay the price…thick trees are on both sides of the fairway. The basket sits under a big tree on the far side of a little bowl.
Hole #16 – Left, Right & Center
Par 3 – 232′ – 14′ uphill. There are three paths through the trees for your drive. Each provides a different landing area and approach angle. The basket is sitting in a small clearing up and to the right of the landing areas.
Hole #17 – Lone Bristlecone
Par 4 – 480′ – 1′ downhill. A huge curving left to right drive. The fairway continues to turn, so play your 1st shot out far enough to give you the line for a proper approach shot. The basket sits protected on the left by a beautiful bristlecone pine.
Hole #18 –
Par – 260′ – 13′ uphill. One of the most critical tee shots on the course. Execute correctly and end up with an easy birdie putt, misjudge and you’ll be looking at a tough recovery shot to save par. The basket sits on the edge of a hill with trees protecting the left to right drive, and a drop off punishing the right to left drive that goes too far or putts from the hilltop that miss.
Hole #19 –
Par 3 – 302′ – 5′ downhill. A clear fairway with trees down the right side. The basket sits 20′ behind and slightly to the right of the lone tree at the end of the fairway.
Hole #20 –
Par 4 – 335′ – 15′ uphill. A huge pine bristlecone pine sits in the middle of the fairway. You can go around to the left or right. The left is completely open and gives a straight uphill approach shot if you clear the big pine. The option to the right is tighter but shorter with trees protecting the right side of the fairway. The basket sits about a third of the way down from the crest of the hill. Follow the path to the right to get to the final hole (the path crosses the path going from 6 to 7).
Hole #21 – Beer:30
Par 3 – 188′ – 14′ uphill. Nothing tricky here…just throw it straight up the fairway to a large green to finish out the round. Great place to finish with birdie or an ace run.
